About Us
- In 1902, Nancy L. Hill (1868-1928) began her teaching career in Aurora at the Oak Street School (later named the Mary A. Todd School).
- She was a teacher at the school for seven years and served as its principal for nineteen years.
- She was considered for the position of superintendent of the district, but she declined the offer.
- Hill died suddenly of a heart attack on May 26, 1928. An editorial in the Beacon-News praised her as “a splendid teacher, but more than that, a sympathetic and understanding woman."
